Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Taita Hills, arriving in time for lunch and your first game drive through this privately owned-sanctuary. You’ll stay at the iconic Salt Lick Lodge – a lodge uniquely perched on stilts overlooking waterholes that attract wildlife all day and night.
Spend your second day exploring the sanctuary on thrilling morning and afternoon game drives. Taita Hills is home to a rich variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalos, leopards, zebras, and over 300 bird species. The sanctuary’s proximity to Tsavo West and the LUMO Conservancy makes it a vibrant ecosystem full of photographic opportunities.
Your final day includes a morning game drive as you leave the sanctuary and return to Nairobi, taking with you incredible memories of Kenya’s wild beauty.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Taita Hills (Salt Lick Lodge)
Depart Nairobi early in the morning and drive to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Enter the sanctuary mid-morning and begin your first game drive en route to the lodge. After check-in and lunch, enjoy a relaxed afternoon followed by a thrilling game drive, including a visit to the Rhino Sanctuary. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day in Taita Hills (Salt Lick Lodge)
After breakfast, explore the sanctuary on both morning and afternoon game drives. Enjoy the lodge’s panoramic views of waterholes as you relax between safaris. Taita Hills hosts a diverse range of wildlife including elephants, big cats, antelopes, giraffes, and an incredible array of birdlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Taita Hills – Nairobi
As you exit the sanctuary, enjoy an early morning game drive. After breakfast at the lodge, begin your journey back to Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon.
