AWS
Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a global leader in cloud computing and a powerhouse in startup acceleration through its support programs and innovation hubs. Since its launch in 2006, AWS has been empowering individuals, startups, governments, and organizations worldwide—including in Kenya—to build transformative solutions that reshape industries and improve lives.
As part of Amazon, AWS is driven by a customer-obsessed approach, working backward from users’ needs to deliver tailored cloud infrastructure, tools, and mentorship. Whether it's a first-time entrepreneur or a fast-scaling tech startup, AWS provides the resources and environment necessary to innovate boldly and grow sustainably.
Services and Support
AWS Activate Program
This flagship startup program supports early-stage companies with up to $100,000 in AWS credits, technical support, and expert business guidance. It allows startups to test, build, and scale their products efficiently without the heavy upfront infrastructure cost. For AI-focused startups, credits may reach up to $300,000.
FinTech Africa Accelerator
AWS launched this 10-week virtual, equity-free accelerator specifically to support early-stage FinTech startups across Africa, including Kenya. The program includes cloud credits, expert mentorship, access to technical training, and go-to-market support, all designed to help startups refine their products and scale with confidence.
AWS re/Start Program (Kenya)
In Kenya, AWS also runs re/Start, a free 12-week cloud training program targeting individuals with little to no tech background. This initiative builds cloud computing talent locally and aligns with AWS's vision of creating opportunities and preparing the workforce of the future.
Startup Mentorship and Ecosystem Support
The AWS Startups team includes former founders, CTOs, investors, and advisors who offer tailored guidance across business, product, and technology. Through these mentorships and community initiatives, AWS helps startups navigate funding, market entry, and operational growth.
Go-to-Market Support
Via the AWS Partner Network, startups can co-build, co-market, and co-sell their solutions with AWS. The network boasts over 130,000 partners from 200+ countries, offering a vast distribution and collaboration ecosystem for Kenyan startups to tap into.
Innovation Through Generative AI
AWS equips startups with tools to leverage generative AI, cloud-native development, and advanced machine learning. These capabilities empower businesses to boost productivity, enhance creativity, and streamline operations.
AWS is ideal for early-stage tech startups, AI innovators, fintech disruptors, and mission-driven entrepreneurs seeking robust infrastructure, mentorship, and growth support. It’s also highly relevant to individuals looking to enter the tech space through upskilling and cloud certification.
Whether you're building a mobile app, launching a fintech platform, or scaling a SaaS solution, AWS provides a powerful ecosystem to test, launch, and grow your vision—right from Nairobi to the world.
